As I enter my second year as CEO, I am proud to present our 2024 Annual Report. The past year has been a remarkable journey filled with dynamic activities and engagements, both locally and internationally. Our focus remains steadfast on institutional reforms, including calling for the establishment of an Ombudsman’s office, ensuring the independence of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), and advocating for critical legal changes such as amendments to the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010, public procurement laws, and Right to Information legislation.
Additionally, we continued to address issues surrounding corruption in migrant worker recruitment while contributing narratives and commentary on pressing anti-corruption topics, including Malaysia’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) ranking, the controversial pardon of Najib Razak, and associated reforms. Recognizing the importance of a comprehensive framework to address conflicts of interest (COI), as COI remains a significant contributor to grand corruption in Malaysia, we’ve also amplified our call for an asset declaration act and Political Financing Act.
Environmental governance has also been a major focus, particularly in addressing plastic and waste management issues. We have actively explored corruption risks in the burgeoning carbon capture and carbon markets industries, emphasizing the need for robust governance in these spaces…
