Covering our key initiatives, research, and policy advocacy from April to June 2026, this report outlines our ongoing work to champion anti-corruption reforms, uphold human rights, and strengthen democratic accountability across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Key Highlights:
- Engaged directly with the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on the Constitutional Amendment Bill regarding the separation of the Attorney General and Public Prosecutor roles, while offering critical perspectives on Deferred Prosecution Agreements (DPAs).
- Conducted on-the-ground research visits to Indigenous Orang Asli settlements in Pahang to evaluate renewable energy governance, joined regional decarbonisation dialogues, and monitored illegal e-waste repatriation efforts.
- Convened youth leaders from 10 Southeast Asian nations in Kuala Lumpur for the “Empowering Youth Voices to Fight Corruption” regional forum and launched an interactive toolkit on spotting corruption red flags.
- Participated in Sekretariat #RCINow to demand a Royal Commission of Inquiry into allegations involving the MACC, co-signed a multi-CSO memorandum opposing public healthcare budget cuts, and contributed a chapter to SUARAM’s Annual Human Rights Report.
- Briefed the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Health (PSSCH) on healthcare access challenges facing marginalized groups, and held high-level dialogues with an Australian parliamentary delegation and foreign service officers.
