Our forest governance program continued in Johol

The programme was aimed at empowering Orang Asli of Johol with information, helping lodge complaints, and giving them opportunity to dialogue with relevant agencies

The newly appointed top director of the Orang Asli Affairs Department (JAKOA) at the Federal Level himself came down to the ground, and addressed some of the long standing problems, and promised to be more open. Forestry officials were also present. The huge trust deficit, between the Orang Asli and the authorities can only be improved with greater openness and accountability and respect for rights, of these communities.
