Seberang Perai City Council records drop in corruption cases since 2018

December 9, 2020 (PN)

Having adopted a comprehensive anti-corruption plan, the Seberang Perai City Council has reported a 65% drop in reported corruption cases from 2018 to 2020. The plan was awarded the ISO 37001:2016, which requires an organisation to implement an effective anti-bribery management system that detects and deals with bribery by its personnel or associated persons.

The council has now launched a 5-year anti-corruption plan modelled after the National Anti-Corruption Plan 2019 (NACP), and hopes to achieve a “clean and corrupt-free” local government.

This marks a significant and successful progress in the adoption and implementation of anti-graft policies modelled after the NACP.
