C4 met MACC Penang to raise concern on election bribery

Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Center) represented by Cynthia Gabriel, Executive Director, and Sudhagaran Stanley Singh, C4 Penang Coordinator, had a meeting with the Deputy Director of Penang State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency. One of the issues raised was on election bribery. The free food/alcohol/luckydraws/angpow/4d slip and etc. MACC should conduct monitoring and take action during the coming elections in Penang to put a stop to these practice. We also suggested for a hotline to be setup where the public could complain of such corrupt practices. Under S.3 (c) of the SPRM Act 2009, SPRM's power covers offences under part III of the Election Offences Act 1954 (akta 5).

Looking forward to collaborative programs with MACC Penang for civil servants in the Penang Gov and MBPP to raise awareness and to stress the importance on practising good ethics and being free from corruption.
